You will analyze the requirements for programs or products and the generation of realistic production schedules for the Moog machine shop, assembly and test, and the externally sourced supply chain.  After release of the schedules, you will monitor progress against completion dates and takes appropriate action to ensure on-time completion of Moog commitments to customers. This requires a comprehensive knowledge of materials and requirements planning tools as well as Moog planning and purchasing policies. You will be expected to complete the requisition to purchase order or work orders in a timely fashion.

 

You should expect to have a number of these activities happening simultaneously and have effective time management.  You will be involved in quotes from subsidiaries and occasionally larger quoting efforts. Occasional travel to suppliers and customers may be required. Training of new employees on proper planning and buying processes may be required. You will also have a level of knowledge about the product line(s) you support. 

 

As a Moog Industrial Senior Planner/Buyer will….

 

  • Planning: Top Level Assemblies: working the constraints/mastery of part requirement and associated impacts up and down the supply chain, including historical and trending analysis, and advanced planning parameters/manage a master schedule, utilize capacity planning tools, construct basic planning bills, and begin to identify supply risks & opportunities

 

  • Buying: Commodity source, negotiate price and lead time: execute RFQ to PO sourcing within commodity strategy, ability to negotiate flexible supply strategies to achieve cost and lead-time goals / have intimate understanding of key suppliers/coach and support RFQ activities for solution development

 

  • Leadership: Cross functional leadership ability: has ability to facilitate/influence cross functional discussions with peers within product line team driving towards consensus/gain commitment to agreed-upon action plans and follow-up to commitments within the organization

 

  • Problem Solving: Root Cause/Corrective Actions: developing structured problem-solving methodology (Ex. A3, 5 Why, 8D, Production Pareto, and RC/CA) to approach issues and develop solutions with a continual improvement mindset/can facilitate & influence group together to solve a problem, starting to use structure (methodology) - leading to consistent results/can recognize and escalate when effort is stalling

 

  • Continuous Improvement: Subject matter expert in idea generation and implementation: understand Product Line goals and strategic direction/generate new ideas using analytics & data to assess trends within SME scope/frame opportunity and present for consideration to SC strategic team

 

Here's what you'll need to be considered for this exciting opportunity:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering and two (2) years as Planner/Buyer
  • Alternatively, an Associate Degree in Business or Engineering plus two (2) years as Planner/Buyer and five (5) additional years related experience in materials or sourcing.
  • APICS Certification in Purchasing, Production, and Inventory Control is desired.
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification or experience is desired. 
  • SAP experience is preferred.

Salary Range:

 

The base pay range for this opportunity is $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year.

 

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits.
