Strategic Sourcing Lead  

 

The Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for sourcing plans including make v. buy inputs, supplier identification and selection, negotiating and closing high value long-term agreements, supplier relationship/partnership management, and providing contracting support to MAG Supply Chain needs, specific to the East Aurora site. This role reports up through the East Aurora Site Supply Chain team and will be assigned specific commodities, programs, and/or suppliers to manage. This role is critical to support site needs and ensure demand aggregation and alignment across Operating Groups and other sites if applicable. The ability to effectively manage relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders throughout the sourcing/contract process is critical.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

·        Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering)

·        At least 5 years of progressive experience in supply chain, operations, or program/project management in a relevant industry

·        Experience supporting large organizations and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and cross-functional teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Advanced degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations or Engineering

·        Aerospace knowledge and experience

·        Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and experience with continuous improvement tools (ex: 5Y, 8D); Six Sigma/Lean training

·        Strong business and financial acumen; understanding of the drivers/impacts of financial performance within the Supply Chain

·        Experience negotiating terms and conditions and pricing, with the ability to understand negotiating leverage in a diverse set of circumstances

·        Requires strategic thinking and the ability to facilitate complex Supply Chain decision making over  3-5 year time horizons

·        Must be able to collaborate and effectively influence across multiple functions, teams, and businesses to achieve required performance

·        Direct experience with contractual requirements (e.g., FAR/DFAR, REACH, AEO, Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, Import/Export regulations, EAR, ITAR); this role supports USG contracting and procurement requirements

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Partner with internal customers (Operations and Site Supply Chain teams) to develop and manage category/commodity strategies that leverage Moog enterprise and Operating Groups to mitigate risk

·        Provides sourcing support for proposal activity, focused on proposal compliance, price analysis development, and building bid strategies to Moog customers

·        Partner with Supply Chain Contracts and Legal to develop and sustain terms and pricing agreements to maximize Moog position to ensure supplier performance and claim management process

·        Research and provide Supply Chain market knowledge and intelligence for business planning

·        Develop, review, and align negotiation strategies across MAG Supply Chain and collaborate with other Operating Groups as applicable

·        Supports life cycle of supplier contracting, including NPI/development, production, and sustainment while driving performance to quality, total cost, delivery, and inventory targets

·        Develop channels of supply to achieve reduced lead time and limited Moog inventory holding; drive critical enterprise replenishment methods (ex: Kanban, Consignment) to increase free cash flow position

·        Possess the ability to create agreements, analyses, and negotiations documentation to satisfy FAR/DFAR requirements in support of USG contracting legal requirements

·        Understand continuous improvement methodologies and leverage tools (ex: A3 problem-solving) to develop annual improvement plans

·        Willingness to travel (~10-15% of the time) to suppliers and/or other Moog sites

 

 

The base pay range for this opportunity is $75,000.-$130,000. per year.  The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
