Moog has an immediate opening for an Associate Metallurgical (Materials) and Process Engineer.  You will work on metallurgical related production, heat treat, and failure analysis projects in order to support manufacturing of Moog’s complex mechanical and electro-pneumatic electrohydraulic, electromechanical components.  Reporting to an Engineering manager, you will work onsite daily at our corporate headquarters campus in East Aurora, NY (Buffalo area).

As an Associate Metallurgical/Materials and Process Engineer, you will:

·       Provide technical recommendations within Moog regarding the choice of metals and processes to be used in producing various products. Act as a consultant on questions related to mechanical and physical properties of materials, particularly metal alloys.

·       Contribute to failure analysis of hardware for engineers across the organization; and enact process improvements based on results.

·       Provide troubleshooting assistance and process instructions to the Moog manufacturing departments, in particular heat treating. Make recommendations on procedures and equipment to maintain state of the art conditions in these departments.

·       As a result of becoming familiar with processes used by Moog; plan, organize and conduct programs directed towards the development of improved or new processing techniques for metals and other related materials used in our products.

·       Write and maintain materials and process specifications for use on engineering drawings and operation sheets.  Review and approve materials and process call-outs on engineering drawings.

·       Perform laboratory duties such as metallography, microstructure interpretations, data analysis and other metallurgical tests required in the conduction of specific activities. Guide other staff members during the performance of these duties.

·       Support Quality Control in the certification of materials, interpretation of material specifications and support of material and heat treat issues concerning process vendors.

·       For training and developmental purposes, you may receive assignments that include some work that is typical of a higher level.

 

To be considered for this role, here are the Minimum Qualifications:

·       BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering.  Must have degree by August 2024.

This position requires access to United States export-controlled information.

 

It’d be great if you also had:

·       3+ months of Engineering internship or work experience in Metallurgical or Materials engineering

·       Basic knowledge of materials processing, heat treat, microstructural evaluation, mechanical testing

·       Ability to problem solve/troubleshoot metallurgical processing issues

Salary range:

$73,000 - $83,000 per year. 

Pay Disclaimer:

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the Moog pay range or indicates the hourly rate for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include a profit share bonus, employee stock purchase plan, a flexible paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits.
