Moog Space and Defense Group is the premier motion and flow control solutions provider for markets including missiles, turreted weapons systems, military ground vehicles, military radar, Naval vessels, and human-rated space vehicles. Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, and sensor integration.

Moog Defense Group is looking for a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to part of a team working on complex motion control systems used on defense applications.  These complex systems are primarily focused on, but not limited to the area of electrohydraulic, electropneumatic and electromechanical systems. You will be responsible for the design of PCB’s (printed circuit boards) and electrical LRU’s (line replaceable unit) used primarily for brushless motor control.  The candidate must be able to lead a team in the design of these items and suggest the architecture and solution for these designs. This position requires a high degree of foresight and creativity to anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems.

Here are the skills you’ll bring with you…

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years’ relevant technical experience OR Master of Science Degree in Engineering with 8+ Years’ relevant technical experience.
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong analytical skills
  • Hands-on development of complex circuit schematics and PCB design
  • Prefer familiarity with power devices/modules or motor control
  • Experienced with position sensors used for motor control and their electrical communication
  • Ability to work onsite in East Aurora, NY (remote candidates will not be considered).

Day- to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Experienced electronics designer with the understanding of fielding products in the defense
  • Lead as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
  • Technical leader who can forecast & define tasks across various defense business units
  • Prepare successful proposal designs and concepts, along with cost and schedule estimates.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Independently initiate and perform specialized research.
  • Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports.
  • Shares vales of “teamwork is a must” and thus good communication is key.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior engineers.

Salary:

  • The base pay range for this opportunity is $90,000 - $150,000 per year 

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits. 

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
