Supplier Quality Engineer 

Moog

Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join them. You will report to the Quality Director and will have an onsite work schedule at our business unit, Genesys Aerosystems, located in Mineral Wells, TX. Genesys Aerosystems delivers customer-focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.

 

To be considered for Supplier Quality Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field or related technical discipline and 2 to 5 years related experience
  • Experience functioning in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations
  • Must have ability to effectively solve problems, assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions, to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools, to establish goals and objectives to complete projects, and to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience working with people on a cross-functional level
  • Experience using continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. Basic knowledge of statistical data tracking and Root Cause analysis
  • Experience using standard business software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • Experience using communication skills: Written, Oral, Listening, Presentation, Technical Writing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically 25% of the time to meet with suppliers. This is typically 10-15 weeks per year but can demand higher travel commitments based on program needs.

 

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for communicating in oral and written form to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, and customers
  • Participate in supplier selection and approval including supplier evaluation and quality system audits.
  • Ensure compliance to the Genesys Supplier Quality Manual including selection and compliance to PO supplier quality flow downs.
  • Review and approve new supplier First Article Inspection reports.
  • Participate in supplier reviews and provides input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality performance
  • Track supplier performance trends and performs trend analysis. Facilitate corrective actions as appropriate
  • Communicate and coordinate with suppliers all actions related to supplier quality performance
  • Maintain Supplier Rating System, including quarterly reporting.
  • Ensure that supplier nonconforming material is dispositioned in a timely manner.  Coordinate with suppliers to resolve non-conforming material dispositions and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform quality system and process audits of suppliers, as needed, including reporting, follow-up, and closure of non-conformances.
  • Work with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
  • Work with suppliers as needed to develop supplier quality documentation and test procedures.
  • Use analytical tools as needed such as SPC, Gage R&R, 5 Why or Fault Trees.
  • Develops and maintains positive supplier relations which may require some travel.
  • Assist with quality training of incoming inspectors. Provide specification interpretation and inspection technique guidelines for parts being inspected.  Review the training requests and offers up possible training scenarios.
  • Participate in quality presentations to senior staff as required.

Salary Range and Pay DisclaimerThe base pay range for this opportunity is $69,638.40 – $113,848.80 per year.

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the Moog pay range or indicates the hourly rate for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include a profit share bonus, employee stock purchase plan, a flexible paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits.
