Moog is hiring a Staff Electrical Design Engineer in our Aircraft Group for an onsite position in East Aurora, NY. This senior electrical engineering position is for the Mission Systems: Unmanned Aircraft System business unit. You will design, integrate, and flight test the full electrical architecture of next generation airborne vehicles.  

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Hold an accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years of progressive experience in the field of Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with low voltage circuit design and high voltage power distribution.
  • Electrical hardware design and integration experience.

Summary:

As the Staff Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of high and low voltage systems used on new advanced aircraft concepts including uncrewed, hybrid-electric powered VTOL types. You will report to the Staff Project Engineer for Aircraft Group Innovation & Technology. This role requires a self-starter capable of working in an agile environment, which means leading and performing electrical engineering tasks at all levels and working with a cross-discipline team to quickly design, iterate, build, and test solutions. This is a senior position that requires a motivated individual with exemplary communication skills as well as customer/supplier interface experience. You will have concurrent responsibilities, so being highly organized and diligent is critical.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing low-voltage electronics for flight control computer, battery management systems, and equipment interfaces.
  • Designing high-voltage electronics for hybrid-electric power systems
  • Architecting fault tolerant electrical designs to meet reliability requirements
  • Developing schematics, cabling diagrams, board layout, and circuit simulation
  • Supporting the integration and testing of the system both in the iron bird and on the aircraft.
  • Guiding overall electronics system development through your knowledge of the product, and its operational objectives.
  • Lead team of engineers in development/design of electronics
  • Oversee and review electrical design analyses – hand calculations (first order) and dynamic simulations (MATLAB, Simulink, pSpice, etc.)
  • Maintain currency with materials technology, industry design requirements and modern design analysis tools.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with Military / Aerospace programs and products
  • Power System Simulation and Modeling Experience
  • Power supply, AC/DC and DC/DC Converter Design Experience
  • Knowledge of Military or Commercial EMI requirements and standards
  • RF design knowledge of transmit/receive functions covering aviation related communication and navigation frequency ranges is a plus.
  • Experience with Lab Equipment - O-Scopes, DVMs, etc.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275 is a plus.

 

 

Salary:

The base pay range for this opportunity is $123,032 - $194,744 per year 

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits. 

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
