Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join them. You will have an onsite work schedule at Moog aerospace plant in Torrance, CA. You will report to our Site Engineering Lab Manager. Your key responsibility is conducting environmental and functional tests for new product evaluation, development, and qualification. The Senior Lab Technician plays a key expert role and may be called on to provide test and technical support to engineers in various disciplines.

To be considered, here is what you’ll need to bring with you:

·         Current and Active DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)

·         Associate Engineering Degree or equivalent training plus a minimum of eight years’ experience as a test technician in mechanical, hydraulic, or electromechanical fields.

·         Experience in the proper use of hand tools and test instruments commonly found in a test lab.

·         Computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will:

·         Model the highest safety standards within the lab environment as a typical test site could have hazards such as high and low temperatures, elevated pressures, rotating equipment, loud noises, use of oils and solvents, LN2, etc. 

·         Review test specifications and setup UUT and associated test equipment per written procedure. 

·         Inspect test setups to verify compliance with applicable procedures (similar to an FAA conformity).

·         Perform tests per specifications/procedures while keeping a detailed test log of all events.

·         Post-process test data to verify compliance with specifications. 

·         Maintain a well-organized test environment and prepare data, plots, and test logs for review.

·         Apply a sound technical approach and good judgment when investigating test anomalies. 

·         Assist other departments with test equipment setup, instrumentation, and data acquisition.

·         Work closely with the engineering team in the preparation of data summaries and test reports.

·         Participate in test planning efforts and test readiness reviews.

·         Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.

·         Review and provide technical feedback on draft test procedures for future tests. 

·         Provide training to other technicians for the proper execution of tests.

·         Communicate clearly and collaboratively across all levels and functions in the organization.

·         Travel to outside test locations to setup, inspect, and operate various qualification tests.

 

The ideal candidate will also have the following preferred qualifications:

·         Experience testing to RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810

·         Experience with data acquisition and post-processing applications such as LabView, DIAdem, dSPACE, Dewesoft, or MATLAB

·         Experience using laboratory tools such as an environmental chamber, multi-channel oscilloscope, DMM, milliohm meter, dielectric tester, torque tools, thermocouples, etc.

Salary Range:

Pay range for this opportunity is $80,000-$100,000 annually.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits. 

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information. This position requires security clearance.
