Process Engineer

Our team in Space & Defense is looking for a Process Engineer to join them. You will report directly to the Business Systems and Quality Compliance Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Blacksburg, VA.

 

To be considered for Process Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Information Technology or similar.
  • Ability to analyze complicated problems from multiple perspectives and to develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience working in a team environment and building relationships across all functions of an organization.
  • Strong business acumen; experience working with and understanding processes across various business functions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrable, intermediate proficiency in a variety of programming languages, i.e., Python, Javascript, SQL, Powershell, etc.
  • Basic understanding of common lean manufacturing principles and tools is preferred.
  • Experience with Project Management related responsibilities is preferred.

 

As a Process Engineer, you will:

  • Need to be above average in critical-thinking, analytical reasoning, observational analysis, attention-to-detail, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and motivation to develop skills and knowledge related to multiple facets of the organization
  • Think innovatively and challenge the status quo with new solutions.
  • Audit processes throughout all functions of the organization to ensure standards and requirements are met while also identifying improvement opportunities
  • Work with teams from various business functions, including Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and many others
  • Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities, define improvements initiatives, and facilitate/lead cross functional teams in implementing critical improvements.
  • Map current processes and propose future state through process design.
  • Define process requirements through the development or revision of standard operating procedures.
  •  Assist in the simplification, standardization, and integration of processes.
  •  Implement innovative solutions to enhance existing and new processes.
  •  Ensure solutions and initiatives are fully aligned with site/business unit objectives, priorities, and strategies.
  •  Work closely with a diverse team consisting of engineers, developers, analysts, and auditors.
