Digital Solutions Developer at Moog Aircraft Group Tewkesbury

A Digital & Technology Solutions Specialist maintains digital and technology strategies through technology leadership, investigating, identifying, and implementing technological strategic solutions. They direct digital technology provision by studying organisation goals, strategies, and practices and delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing digital technologies. They are confident, competent, and capable individuals able to apply leadership and change management skills to operate in a range of digital and technology-related specialist roles. This standard is based upon a core set of knowledge, skills, and behaviors that will be supplemented by one specialism detailed below.

Internship Projects

This role is supporting a digital transformation project under a wider industry 4.0 project that we are undertaking in Tewkesbury called CONVERGENCE.

Project CONVERGENCE delivers a structured approach to implementing a 'digital thread'; incorporating Industry 4.0 innovative technologies such as future factory design modeling and optimisation, smart automation, and flowline enhancement.

The industry-led project is supported by key suppliers and research organisation capabilities. The increased capacity gained by the projected efficiency improvements will secure future high-value work from the UK aerospace sector and enable the inload of additional nonUK manufactured products. The increased capabilities and established technology innovations will be disseminated to both the project partners and the wider industry through a Smart Factory Learning Centre and an SME Digital Handbook.

The aim of the Digital Work package of the Convergence program is to develop and validate the digital architecture and toolsets that will enable connected manufacturing at MOOG's future Tewkesbury site.

The objectives of WP2: Digital Thread are:

1. To capture the current MOOG systems landscape at the Tewkesbury site and to identify MOOG aspirations for its future factory with a focus on the Deflector Jet (DJ) valves product line;

2. To design a system architecture that will enable MOOG to enhance its operations and facilitate the fulfillment of the identified future factory aspirations;

3. To implement and validate a testbed with a set of systems and capabilities that are relevant to the future Tewkesbury production environment; 4. To produce a roadmap that outlines key steps required for MOOG to successfully implement the WP2 selected technologies in their Tewkesbury future factory

This internship will give you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, working with new technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Industrial IoT, Digital Twins, Analytics Platforms, Modern Machine Interfaces, Predicted Quality models, Tools Management, part Serialisation tracking, and Manufacturing Execution Systems.

You will be able to develop your communication skills through interaction with technology suppliers and technical experts, with the potential of specific technology training as required for project success.

  • Develop and deliver presentations that resonate with senior stakeholders
  • Develop business reports to present digital and technology solutions

  • Evaluate the significance of human factors to leadership
  • Develop own leadership style and professional values that contribute to building high-performance teams
  • Apply broader technical knowledge and context to deliver the company’s business strategy
  • Demonstrates effective technology leadership and change management skills for managing technology-driven change and continuous improvement
  • Create and implement innovative technological strategies to support the development of new products, processes, and services that align with the company’s business strategy and develop and communicate compelling business proposals to support these.
