Moog Space & Defense group is seeking a Design Engineering Manager for our Motion Control design group. The manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and direction of all design activities in the development of new products and for technical support for heritage products. Provides support to the manufacturing team to assure operational readiness. Builds and leads a multidisciplinary engineering team for analyzing product requirements, making cost and technical proposals, developing prototypes, finalizing the design, and design validation and verification. The manager will work with leadership to determine long term product, skill, and organizational needs.

As a Design Engineering Manager, you will:

  •        Drive new product development and continuous improvement of existing products and processes.
  •        Present concepts, data, and recommendations to management and customers in formal design reviews.
  •        Participate in management level strategic planning related to new product development.
  •        Drive innovation and creation of intellectual property.
  •        Manage projects and activities in a multiple project environment to meet high demand schedules, cost targets, and technical requirements.
  •        Provide leadership and supervision for the Engineering team to assure efficiency and effectiveness of team members.
  •        Assist in the interviewing, hiring, appraisal, mentoring and professional development of department staff.

 

To be considered for the Design Engineering Manager role, here is what you will need to bring with you:

  •        Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics.
  •        10 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in electro-magnetic actuation is preferred.
  •        3 years of direct supervision / leadership experience.
  •        5 years of experience in project management.
  •        Proven experience interfacing with customers
  •        Must be comfortable and adept at both strategic negotiations and conflict resolution. Through incumbent’s words and actions, customers and employees must consider them alike as a trustworthy, objective advocate for product integrity.
  •        Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environment.
  •        Ability to travel to customer sites to support sales and provide technical support (internationally and domestically).
  •        Effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of technical and operating personnel, both internal and external.
  •        Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
